Medicare4All Discussion Panel

March 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Over the last decade, many of us have felt the weight of the American healthcare crisis. Insurance deductibles are more than most families have in the bank. Two-thirds of all bankruptcies are from healthcare alone, and people living with manageable diseases and disabilities are being financially exploited.

Now, most 2020 Democratic hopefuls are saying that will implement Medicare 4 all… but what does that mean? Is that socialism? Will there be wait times? Will I lose my coverage?

Our panel wants to answer all of your questions!

We have four healthcare advocates and educators who have been fighting for healthcare for decades, and who believe it is a human right. Come join us at the MADSA office to hear responses from our great panel:

Bill Elsea – an former epidemiologist for the CDC, Peace Corps Doctor, and a medical school Professor. He was healthcare commissioner for Atlanta/Fulton County.

Henry Kahn – a primary-care physician who was also a professor at the Emory Medical School and an adjunct faculty member at the Morehouse School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health (Emory). He was among the founders of Physicians for a National Health Program (www.pnhp.org) in 1986.

Rita Valenti – a Registered Nurse who worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for over 28 years in ICU trauma and at the Grady Infectious Disease Clinic. She is a former State Legislator who introduced legislation for single payer in Georgia in 1992. Rita is a founder of Project South and currently works with National Nurses United. She serves on the Board of Healthcare-NOW; is a member of PNHP; and the Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective.

Revered Butch Brosman – the Co-Chair of Georgia ADAPT, which is the regional chapter of a national grassroots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil and human rights of people with disabilities to live in freedom. He is also a skilled balloon twisting artist and part of the Nerdlanta comedy scene.
